The Importance of Being Earnest

Picture

About the Play:

The Importance of Being Earnest follows two young men, each leading a double life to make the best of their restricted existences. Ernest is in town where arrangements for a marriage are made and quickly disrupted by chaos in the countryside. When Ernest becomes Jack and Algernon becomes Ernest, they are forced to conjure absurd lies and face ridiculous reality.

The height of Oscar Wilde’s career, this farcical comedy combines naïve stereotypes with witty parody, creating a hilarious array of characters that seem strangely familiar in any age.
