Matchbox Theatre

Matchbox Theatre is a brand-new play by renowned British dramatist Michael Frayn, most famous for his farce Noises Off, which is one of the funniest and most popular comedies in the English language.


Published in October 2014, Matchbox Theatre consists of 30 short numbers and skits which are loosely connected through the topic of communication and its discontents: talking about, talking to, talking back, talking behind one’s back, and talking at cross purposes are the ingredients and the main source of humour of these short monologues, dialogues and polylogues.


In our first production after our long summer break (in fact, our first break ever since 2007!) we are presenting to you sixteen of these 30 plays, performed by thirteen actors – some of them old, many of them new, some of them borrowed and some of them blue…
